Can’t Open the File- Error Message in Zip File

After downloading a ZIP file, when you try to extract it, the file may fail to extract. And instead of opening the file, you may get an error message showing:

"Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive. If you downloaded this file, try downloading the file again."

In these situations, you cannot open the zip file and it may cause data loss.

This problem is commonly occurs if the HTTP or Hyper Text Transfer Protocol compression is turned on in the properties of your website or your outlook account if you are downloading it from outlook account. These properties are available in the Microsoft Internet Information Services or IIS. Actually this program changes the encoding of the file and your unzip program can't recognize it.

In case if you are downloading the zip file from any website then you can fix this issue by turning off the HTTP compression. When you turn it off, the file will be downloaded in its original encoding and your unzip program will able to extract it.

But in case where you have downloaded the zip file from your outlook account, you can't fix this issue using the same method as the file is already downloaded in your outlook account. In these situations you need to repair the corrupted zip file to access the data.
